Other Issues in Media and Society

In order to gain more knowledge about different issues related to media and society, I have read 5 blogs that my classmates created and that I found very interesting. I highly recommend reading these blogs as they are very informative and it is a pleasure to read them!

The first blog I have visited is dealing with life on social media and its impact on mental health. The blog provides its readers with a deeper understanding of this topic and mentions several interesting real-life examples of how social media content differs from reality. I found reading this blog very interesting because it really broadened my knowledge about the issue.

The second blog is about media overuse. In my opinion, this topic is as well very important because I believe that nowadays almost all people have experienced it. The Author of the blog discusses several impacts of social media on people and their mental or physical health which is very important to know and be educated about.

    The third blog is about censorship in media and democracy which is a very important issue as often media is the primary source of information for most people. The author of the blog mentiones current event tied to this topic which I find very interesting and it is about American elections 2020. He wrote about how Twitter reduced Trump's tweets during the elections and what lays behind it.

    Another blog was about scamming and catfishing. This topic is familiar to many people as meeting online is very popular and quarantine also contributed to higher numbers of people finding and meeting people online. When people get catfished it can hurt their feelings especially when they find a connection with the other person. Scams can be even more dangerous because people can lose their money. The author of the blog writes about what is scamming and catfishing discusses different events connected to the topic and provides an overview of the whole issue.

    The last blog that I read was about predators on social media. This topic is similar to the one I mentioned above but the difference is that this issue is related to children. Children who have access to the internet and social media at a young age are often approached by so-called "predators". Predators are the people who try to become friends with the kids and then they try to exploit the children in sexual or other ways. The author of this blog discusses this topic providing real-life examples, opinions from experts, and her own opinion about the topic at the end.
